At this year’s RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court Palace Flower Shows, Bulldog Tools and World Radio Gardening ran a competition which gave visitors the opportunity to win £1,000 of our great British gardening tools. The prizes consisted of a 1st prize of £500 of Bulldog Tools along with five further runners up prizes of £100 of tools each and all entrants had to do to enter the draw was answer the question ‘What is the first name of the main presenter of World Radio Gardening?’ The popular competition helped ensure that the Bulldog Tools stand was incredibly busy every day at both flower shows!
The draw took place last week at the Bulldog Head Office and gardening broadcaster and World Radio Gardening founder Ken Crowther (pictured making the draw with Bulldog sales team member Vickie Tsangarakis) was on hand to draw the winners, which was particularly fitting as ‘Ken’ was the correct answer to the prize draw question! The lucky winner of the 1st prize was Mrs Andrea Goodheart of Bognor Regis in West Sussex who won the fantastic new range of Bulldog Tools, but Ken also picked five fortunate runners up who will be likewise receiving their tools soon – congratulations to Mrs Goodheart and all the other winners.
World Radio Gardening was founded by Ken Crowther in 2013 and became the world’s first 24 hour streamed online gardening radio station. The station provides advice, interviews and music for all gardeners everywhere. Presenters include Garden Writer Geoff Hodge, former editor of BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine Adam Pasco, Thompson & Morgan Head of Horticulture Andrew Tokely and many more including Ken himself who has been working with BBC Radio Essex for more than 25 years and has had his own show since 1992. Many of the programmes are available as podcasts, so fans are also able to download their favourite shows and listen to them at a convenient time or when they are undertaking a particular garden task.
Bulldog Tools have been supporters of World Radio Gardening since its launch and the popularity of this year’s competition confirmed the excellent reputation of the two brands among the gardening public. Bulldog Managing Director, Stuart Elsom said he was ‘delighted with the success of the competition’ and that ‘World Radio Gardening is an important new player in garden media with an impressive range of talented and informative broadcasters and presenters. They provide a great new way for us to engage with keen gardeners from around the UK and the rest of the world.’
World Radio Gardening is free to access and you can listen to it here.
