Each year the city of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania plays host to the world’s largest indoor flower show. Earlier this month over 265,000 people visited the event which is organised by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society – the oldest horticultural society in America.

The theme of this year’s show was ‘Brilliant!’ a celebration of all things British and included a tribute to Big Ben, floral crown jewels, rolling English hills and even a ‘Union Jack Tavern’!

Bulldog Tools attended the show for the first time, offering products from our Clarington Forge range which is distributed by the Robert Larson Company in the USA. Although Clarington Forge garden tools are already sold online and in garden centres, the show allowed us to meet some of our American customers in person.

Fred Foot, Bulldog Tools Marketing Manager was impressed by how well attended the show was and said, ‘An important part of our growth strategy for Bulldog Tools is to develop the brand in new markets around the world and I was very pleased with the high level of interest and sales achieved during the show’.

Among the best sellers on our stand were cutting tools, trowels and forks, the Rabbiting spade, Dutch hoe and our incredible Wizard and Merlin Rakes. And despite British gardening tools looking very different to many of those available in the USA, the show visitors seemed to be very impressed with our high standards of UK manufacture. With many American suppliers now manufacturing garden tools in China and India, we believe that there is demand for quality British made tools in the US market.

The Clarington Forge website allows gardeners throughout America to order from a range of over 60 carefully selected Clarington Forge branded Bulldog garden tools and accessories quickly and conveniently and includes some great garden gift ideas delivered direct to your home. You can also visit the Clarington Forge website to read the blog and keep up with what’s happening ‘stateside’.

Fred and the whole team at Bulldog would like to thank Robert and Emma of Robert Larson Company and the staff and volunteers at the Philadelphia Flower Show for making us feel so welcome and contributing to such an enjoyable and successful event for Bulldog Tools.
